Egitto, nella striscia di ottanta chilometri tra El-Alamein a nord e la depressione di al-Qattara a sud.
La spinta propulsiva degli italo- tedeschi è esaurita. Il fronte si è allungato troppo verso est, verso Alessandria; l’assottigliamento delle linee dei rifornimenti non permette a Rommel ulteriori balzi in avanti.
Nel frattempo il nuovo comandante in capo britannico, maresciallo Montgomery, continua a ricevere rifornimenti, uomini ed aerei, assieme ad un cospicuo numero di nuovi carri Grant e Sherman concessi da Roosevelt a Churchill dopo la caduta di Tobruk
La Forgore è schierata qui, in attesa del possibile contrattacco inglese.
Dal monte Himeimat, un sottotenente dell’Artiglieria della Folgore controlla gli spostamenti degli inglesi.

Waiting for Montgomery
Egypt, mid-october, 1942. Rommel army is deployed along the 80 km strip between el-Alamein, north and al-Qattara depression, south.
Facing them, Marshall Montgomery who is arranging a powerful assaut force, double in men and armament.
At the right side of the Axis deployment, between the Munassib and al-Qattara depressions Rommel has placed the Italians. “Folgore” (paratroopers) Div, with “Ariete” Armoured Div. behind.
On the foothill of mount Himeimat, a Folgore Div. Artillery ensign watches the activities at the plain of Free France units. The radioman trasmits information on to the Div. HQ with his Marelli RF 1 radio.
